Carbon Care Commoning Kit, 2024
3 scents, A5 reader document, 3 scripts of futures scenes
In collaboration with Karolina Sobecka

The Carbon Care Commoning Kit was developed for the exhibition The Air We Share at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden.

The project takes the form of a kit: a set of instructions for collective exercises in imagining futures otherwise. These imaginative and embodied practices are conceived as small acts of commoning—ways of enacting alternative futures into being through shared sensory and narrative exploration.

The project began as a collective process of imagining how our scent landscapes might transform through shifts in material and energy cycles accompanying the energy transition. The scents of the future were realized as a series of perfumes, each paired with a story, presented as a scripted dialogue that invited visitors to put themselves in the shoes of a character in this future. The smell was explored as a speculative and affective interface with climate change—evoking atmospheres of transformation, decay, and regeneration.
